他像不像我們的國父孫中山先生呢!
我常跟小孩說>>>杰克林頓(Jack Layton)長的像不像國父孫中山先生? 連洋人朋友也認同我的想法。他們不只長像同，魅力也相同(只是年代不同)，我很贊同杰克林頓(Jack Layton)臨終前給加拿大百姓的信中所言......"愛要比憤怒好，希望要比恐懼好，樂觀要比絕望好。因此讓我們都充滿愛心、充滿希望和樂觀‧我們會改變這個世界!" 我個人無法像他一樣改變加拿大的政壇，但心存這些理念，可以讓每個如我者的庶民活在當下，活的快樂，可以過個有意義的人生。
第一次看到這位杰克林頓(Jack Layton)，是在電視內的一個專題報導.......記者在他家中訪問他的畫面(那是在2011年5月的聯邦大選前幾個月)>>> 家中有一位年事已高的岳母同住，太太是中國人。當時我很訝異這位洋人還滿中國傳統的嘛! 所以對他印象深刻。後來漸漸地了解他就是加拿大NDP政黨的領袖而他所屬的議員在我居住的社區很活躍於各種活動的參與(小學、老人院.....)，甚至很 照顧新移民的瑣事! 我的第一次加拿大的投票權，就是投了這個黨!
他在8月22日敵不過第二次癌症過世了，當然無法改變他理想中的世界，但是他的確改變了加拿大政壇新面貌，也改變了選民對新民主黨(NDP)的印象。過去的新民主黨極左派(是工會的分身)，在杰克林頓於2003開始帶領下(當時只有13席次)，到2011年5月的聯邦大選NDP首度站上官方反對黨地位(擁有103席次)，特別在魁北克(一直想鬧獨立的省份)，他讓NDP成為史上首度成功擊敗魁人政黨的聯邦政黨(全部60席次，NDP奪下58席次)。
加拿大人稱他是微笑的杰克林頓，他的親和力，如旋風般地掃遍全加拿大，現在他的過世也掀起全加拿大的悲痛(東岸到西岸到網路上)，讓執政黨破例為他舉行國葬儀式，通常只有總督、總理或是在任的內閣部長才能有資格接受國葬。杰克林頓是加拿大政界一位舉足輕重的人物，他深受民眾的歡迎，從這次他離世之後各界的熱烈反應可想而知!(無論是否持相同政見、從普通民眾到政界人士，都對杰克林頓的人品及終身服務於民的精神大為讚揚!)
很多人都想探討為什麼他可以做到歷史上的許多第一次? 有人說因為5月份的電視辯論讓他的風采深獲好評，有人說因為他挺著虛弱的身體依然勇猛而戰的精神讓人心服，也有人說他關心油價、銀行收費過高等問題，他抓住了小市民的心聲.........
溫哥華一位在政府機關工作的太太，在休假中的8月22日，得知杰克林頓凌晨過世，馬上在當天自發性地在市中心發起對杰克林頓的哀悼行動，當天就引來幾千人的響應哀思，而且持續到杰克林頓的國葬日(8月27日)..............

The news that Jack Layton had succumbed to cancer early Monday morning still came as a jolt(令人震驚的事) even though it wasn't entirely unexpected.(杰克林顿8/22/星期一清晨死于癌症的消息还是令人震驚，即使它並不完全出乎意料)。
Layton had put on a brave face when he stepped up to the podium(放講稿的講台) in late July to announce he's be stepping aside as the leader of the NDP to focus his attention and energy on battling a new cancer that had presented itself even as he vanquished(擊敗) a previous diagnosis of prostrate cancer. You must not lose your own hope. Treatments and therapies have never been better in the face of this disease. You have every reason to be optimistic, determined, and focused on the future. My only other advice is to cherish every moment with those you love at every stage of your journey, as I have done this summer. You have elected a superb team of New Democrats to Parliament. They are going to be doing remarkable things in the years to come to make this country better for us all.
To young Canadians: All my life I have worked to make thinks better. Hope and optimism have defined my political career. and I continue to be hopeful and optimistic about Canada. Young people have been a great source of inspiration for me. I have met and talked with so many of you about your dreams, your frustration, and your ideas for change. More and more, you are engaging in politics because you want to change things for the better. Many of you have placed your trust in our party. As my time in political life draws to a close I want to share with you my belief in your power to change this country and this world. There are great challenges before you, from the overwhelming nature of climate change to the unfairness of an economy that excludes so many from our collective wealth, and the changes necessary to build a more inclusive and generous Canada. I believe in you. Your energy, your vision, your passion for justice are exactly what this country needs today. You need to be at the heart of our economy, our political life, and our plan for the present and the future.
And finally, to all Canadians: Canada is a great country, one of the hopes of the world. We can be a better one - a country of greater equality, justice, and opportunity. We can build a prosperous economy and a society that shares its benefits more fairly. We can look after our seniors. We can offer better futures for our children. We can do our part to save the world's environment. We can restore our good name in the world. We can do all of these things because we finally have a party system at the national level where there are real choices, where your vote matters, where working for change can actually bring about change. In the months and years to come, New Democrats will put a compelling new alternative to you. My colleagues in our party are an impressive, committed team. Give them a careful hearing, considerthe alternatives, and consider that we can be a better, fairer, more equal country by working together. Don't let them tell you it can't be done.
My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we'll change the world.

Give them a careful hearing, considerthe alternatives, and consider that we can be a better, fairer, more equal country by working together. Don't let them tell you it can't be done.
